Formatting a Paper

Paper Setup -- General Tips

Note that the document above was created for an earlier version of MS Word.  Although some items are slightly rearranged in the newer versions, if you just open up the ribbon so you can see everything, you'll find that things look very similar to the older version, so all of the settings should be fairly easy to find.

The big difference comes when you go to save the file.  In the older version, you created a file automatically just by saving it.  Newer versions don't create files by default; instead they create sharable links.  I do NOT accept sharable links for assignments, so you'll need to create an actual file to submit.  To do this, go to the File tab, then Create a Copy, then Download Copy.  Remember where you store it on your device so that you can upload it to the dropbox (or email, or whatever).  As always, verify that the document is there, is the correct document, etc. (see policies page).
